Violas start at £ 3500 for an instrument with plain back and sides. The instrument shown is based on the outline of a "Brothers Amati" viola. All instruments are made from well seasoned tone wood exclusively by hand and varnished using traditional techniques. Chris is more than happy to discuss various cosmetic details but will not alter the fundamental design of the instrument or "copy" another instrument, unless he deems it necessary, in the case of Violas, necessary of course includes adjusting body size and stop length to suit the needs of the customer.
Violas are made to order only, Chris always has a Viola to try, it is circa. 16" lob.
For those unfamiliar with the Viola it is tuned "a string down" from the violin, (or in other words from the bass to the treble the strings are C,G,D,A as opposed to the Violin which is G,D,A,E.)
